Best Bets for the English Premier League for Matchweek 11
We move into the 11th week of Premier League football and the storylines are certainly there regarding the top 5 and beyond. Sunday’s marquee matchup between Newcastle and Arsenal will certainly help shape it. The crowded holiday fixture is almost upon us as well. I’ve got two plays I love this weekend. West Ham- Brentford, 11am ET, Saturday
This Saturday afternoon match is a story of two clubs with opposing forms of luck to start the campaign. The xG numbers heavily favor Thomas Frank’s Bees but the odds do not represent that. Looking past the fact that Thomas Frank has owned David Moyes in every match in his career (4 wins in 4), they look to be the better team playing at home yet they are plus money on the 3 way ML. This is a bet the better team situation once again with Brentford as they should handle the Hammers easily. West Ham has only amassed all of .52xG at Brentford in two matches there and will try to play without the ball much of this one. I expect Brentford to build off last weekend’s result at Chelsea and to see out a somewhat comfortable win at the Gtech Community stadium.
Give me Brentford +110 on the 3 way ML.
Sheffield United-Wolves, 11am ET, Saturday
If you read my columns you know I love suggesting matches you should avoid watching at all costs. This is one of them. Sheffield and Wolves certainly give up plenty in front of their own goal but neither are exactly clinical in front of goal, especially with Wolves missing their creative midfielder in Pedro Neto. Sheffield ranks last in xG, goals scored and big chances created. This match should be hugely defensive and do not expect many highlights from it. I will take the U2.5 goals and I even like the 0-0 halftime score at +190.
