We got a barn burner on December 21st as USF will take on Syracuse in the BOCA RATON BOWL. The 6-6 South Florida Bulls will face the 6-6 Syracuse in a clash of football titans.

Now, I don’t talk much football but the boss reached out to the Happy Hour Hockey guys and wanted to see if we would help chip in on bowl coverage. So, if you too are completely oblivious to anything college football, this write up may be for you.

If it’s not clear by now I know next to nothing about these two football programs but in that lies a lot of fun when placing a friendly wager.

The Bulls are 8-2 all time vs Syracuse who may honestly need a new team name at some point. The Orange? It seems that one day they just decided to be one specific color and chose… orange. Not the most dramatic and timeless story of all time but there you go. They do have a fun mascot though and his name is “Otto” the Orange. Look him up, seems like a solid dude. The Bulls and Syracuse last played each other in 2016 in what was a Bulls 45-20 win. The rematch has been haunting the minds of all football fans for years now. Finally these bitter rivals will have another go at it in what may be the biggest event in sports, The Boca Raton Mega Bowl.

The bowl game’s official title is the 2023 “Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl”. I never heard of Roofclaim before but it’s my understanding that roofs are pretty difficult to install and maintain so these guys probably do good work. As soon as you visit their website you are greeted with a really sweet comment from a happy customer in Lisa Trahan…

“After much frustration with a local roofing company, we called roofclaim.com. They were at our house within 1 hour, checked our roof, gave us a quote and answered a million questions for us. Installing a roof at 6:30 in the morning doesn’t sound like fun at all. Gotta commend these guys. Same day completion is unreal as well. I mean the name doesn’t roll off the tongue all that great: “Rooflclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl”, but hey USF and Syracuse are being sponsored by a top dog in the roofing industry and hopefully feel honored.

Back to the actual game at hand. It seems these two squads aren’t the best in college football but not the worst. As of today, Syracuse is listed at -3 and the o/u at 61.5. In the illustrious history of the Boca Raton Bowl, the under and the favorite has been the winner. Of the 9 previous bowl games, the under has cashed in 5 of the 9 games. The favorite, in this case being syracuse, has won 6 times. Lets get crazy here. Call it a hunch (or a completely random guess) but I’m going with over 61.5 AND I got to go with my underdog South Florida Bulls at +3.
