Champions League October 2023 – best Bets

With plenty of exciting gameplay but not too many surprising results in matchweek one, the upsets surely must be on the way at some point for Champion’s League Play. The second set of games is about to kick off, so let’s dig into a few of the games this Tuesday and Wednesday and pick some best bets.

Inter Milan vs. Benfica

Inter are off to a flying start this year in Serie A; they’re tied with rivals AC Milan in first place, but they currently hold the tiebreaker due to a thumping rivalry win. They also picked up a 4-0 win over the weekend, but took a draw last time out in UCL against Real Sociedad, so this is a great opportunity to bet them in a bounce-back spot at -135 on the moneyline. Playing at home against a Benfica team that looked totally flat in their UCL season opener against Salzburg, this should be a relatively comfortable win for Simone Inzaghi’s men.

PSV vs. Sevilla

After Feyenoord absolutely dominated the Dutch Eredivisie last season, it’s PSV’s turn as they have gotten off to a perfect start in the league with seven wins from seven matches. They’ve ripped in 23 goals and allowed just two, and shouldn’t be penalized as much as they probably are by the sportsbooks after losing 4-0 to a fired up Arsenal squad. This is a perfect chance to buy low on a great team, and grab their -105 moneyline against a Sevilla side that’s fighting relegation in the weakest La Liga in recent memory.

Dortmund vs. Milan

Speaking of buying low on a contender, AC Milan’s +190 moneyline is one of the best-value bets you’ll find on the board. Yes, they’re on the road at  Dortmund’s legendary Signal Iduna Park, but the German club doesn’t look anything like the juggernaut that almost stole the Bundesliga a year ago. They were thoroughly outplayed in their first UCL match against the new-look PSG, who have been less than fantastic domestically themselves, while Milan were unlucky to get a draw after thoroughly dominating Newcastle. That result is likely baked into this scoreline, but the Rossoneri had much more quality than the final scoreline showed.

They’ve looked solid all year, outside of the Inter loss, with a fresh-faced attack leading the way. Speaking of which, bet on Christian Pulisic at +320 to score a goal anytime in his return to Dortmund; he’s looked completely rejuvenated this season with .69 goal involvements per 90 in the league, and will be highly motivated for this “revenge” game.

Lens vs. Arsenal

This one’s not a gaudy plus-odds pick, but it’s a relative no-brainer that provides you with excellent value at the number quoted by the sportsbooks. We’re looking at over 2.5 goals at -130 odds in this one, which should feature more than that total from just one side. Lens haven’t been able to recapture the magic from last season, in which they almost topped PSG in the domestic table, and are fighting relegation in Ligue Un early on. They’re allowing almost two goals per game, which won’t fly against an Arsenal team that hung four on PSV, and are averaging over two per game in the Premier League.
